The Insider: Tyler Blackburn Speaks About the Summer Finale, "A" Team for Caleb, Haleb and 3B!

The Insider did a post-finale interview with Tyler Blackburn, who spoke about the finale, different possible betrAyers, Haleb, Caleb's growing role on the show and what's ahead in 3B!
 
On what Tyler thought of the episode

"It was so crazy! Obviously you read scripts and know what's coming, but the finished product was so mind-blowing. I got chills. It was really, really good. I feel like there was so much thrown in your face. I'm sure people are still in shock a little bit."

On what Tyler thought the first time he read through the finale script

"I got a little freaked out ... but I also knew I wasn't going to die. It was a moment of "Oh God..." but it was just one of the many surprises about reading this script at the table read. We filmed a few different "A" reveals, so we didn't actually know what was going to be used. It was mysterious to all of us until last night."

On who were the other unmasked "A"'s

"They shot Toby, Caleb and Paige all in the black hoodie at the end. Obviously they went with Toby, which is crazy!"

On whether Tyler is disappointed Caleb was chosen to be part of the "A" Team

"I would have been happy either way – it would have been an amazing twist. This mystery of "Who is A?" has taken over the world, so to be an "A" would have been kind of monumental. But at the same time, I'm digging being the guy who gets shot too."

On what Tyler made of Ashley's crying performance in the finale

"What's so funny is, on set, I was watching on the monitors and she just goes there so quickly and so genuinely but as soon as they yell cut, she's on her phone texting. It’' the craziest thing to watch. But Ashley has an extremely emotional availability and it's moving to watch. Watching it, it broke my heart. She almost made me cry last night."

On what's ahead for Haleb

"I think they're going to have to be more secretive about their relationship moving forward because of "A" – but in a way, that makes it a little more exciting because they'll have to keep it secret. Their [relationship is] extremely resilient. I feel like it's going to continue being a rollercoaster given the nature of the show, but I do think they're a really solid couple and that's what I like most about them. I feel like they're Bonnie and Clyde. They have each other's backs."

On who shot Caleb and more about the lighthouse scene in 3B

"You'll get more information about [what happened in the lighthouse] but for now, it's something that should remain a mystery. I don't want to say too much because it was designed to leave some open questions. You'll have to wait and see."

On whether Caleb is in the Halloween epsiode

"Yeah. There's some mystery attached to how, but he does make an appearance."

On how Tyler feels about becoming such an important part of the show, with Caleb helping the Liars to find the answers they want

"It was really cool. You can only play the naive dude for so long. It was great to get in on the action – and the fact he's so willing to help shows how passionate he is for Hanna and her friends. He wants to help. I think that's part of his nature. He's been through so much, he's learned to survive and I think he's only going to continue being helpful to them moving forward."

On what's ahead for Caleb in 3B

"We're still shooting season three and I like the direction it's going in. He has a lot of integrity, he's like a knight in shining armor in a lot of ways, and I think those two [qualities] will continue to be a common thread through the rest of season three. Obviously I don't know the writer's plan after that, but I hope he always maintains a bit of his badass-ness. I want him to help [the PLLs] but at the same time, I want him to stick to his guns and rise to the occasion and shake some things up!"

On congratulating Tyler for surviving a PLL finale!

"[laughs] I know! They're dropping like flies around here man."

TSPs Roundup: Day 5 3x17 from the PLL Set

Here's your TSPs (Tweets, Spoilers & Photos) Roundup for Day 5 of shooting 3x17 from the PLL set! Looks like Brendan is on set on Day 5 of shooting 3x17, and we'll be seeing more Lucas in 3B, with Brendan tweeting, "W/ the one and only @cindy_makeup wishing @JMeilanixo was there with us!! @janellyp", with the photo below! Cindy replied, "love my RingMaster and Rosa..." and also Janel tweeted back, "I love you both way too much!!" - aww, so cute!

 
Also, Mar tweeted this, "Spending A lot of time with @loisblumenthal. The next step toward getting #316 ready for you!" - and even though 3x16 shooting has already wrapped, we're guessing this is for editing!
 
And as there was in 3x17 as well, looks like there is more rain coming to Rosewood, with Kyle Hasday, tweeting, "Rain in Rosewood...Oops", with the photo below on the left! And he also revealed another photo, with who may be in the scene, tweeting, with the photo below on the right, "Waiting in the rain with @lucyhale89 @lucyhale"! Can't help but notice that 3x17 is also in line with 2x17's storm! Any more of the same fate of 2x17 to come in 3x17? Will history repeat itself? 

 
And in between scenes, when Ashley and Shay were free, they went to dinner, with Shay tweeting, "A little Mexican dinna with @itashbenzo...#nomnom", with the photo below!

And because of their free time in between scenes, Shayley genorously decided to do a ustream, with Ashley tweeting, "ustream with @shaymitch and i in 5 min", with Shay tweeting back, ":) !!!" - U-Stream video is below (and Lindsey was also on set, and decided to join them!)

Bryan's Tweets and Spoilers: 3x12, the "A" Team, Toby and Shipper News

Firstly, Bryan confirmed that Nate wasn't part of the "A" team, and was just out to take revenge on Emily for Maya, tweeting, "Yup. Nate was a freelance psycho" - good to know for sure! And when asked about Nate's motivation to kill Maya, Bryan tweeted the following, "He was jealous. Maya broke it off at True North because she really loved Emily."

And speaking of Maya, Bryan also confirmed that "She was laying low at Noel's to avoid Nate... But he finally caught up with her. :0(" - but why didn't she tell Em what she was doing then before? To keep her safe?
 
Bryan confirmed for us that Caleb was shot by "Nate. Right before he... you know what." - we thought so, but good to have confirmation!

Bryan also tweeted this about the Halloween episode, tweeting, "You better. Adam Lambert don't call it a "crazy train" for nothin'..." - and we're certainly excited to see the Halloween train as well!

Also, just to confirm, the "A" Team (well, Mona and Toby so far!) were planning to frame Paige for killing Maya and digging up Ali's body, by sending her to Rosewood Cemetery as well to the Liars, but they were unsuccessful, because Nate revealed his true colours! But what's ahead in the "A" team's plans?

And when asked about how Mona knows so much, including Maya's website, Bryan tweeted, "Mona as A knew all the PLL's secrets. Guess she must have picked up some extras along the way..." - we're guessing the different members of the "A" team knew some other secrets, which they shared, to make "A" seem omniscient!

With the reveal of Toby being the Betrayer having come out, there have been lots of questions as to his being part of the "A" team!

For example, when asked whether he was the one in red, at the end of the S2 finale, who visited Mona, Bryan confirmed, "Nope." - we're definitely thinking there's at least two other members of the "A" team to come!

And back to Paily, when asked if Paige is Em's soulmate, as Mar tweeted once we hadn't met her yet before Paige was re-introduced in S3, Bryan tweeted, "Em still hasn't found her soulmate. I think Paige is a part of Em's journey, not the destination." - but when will we meet said soulmate? Bryan coyly tweeted, "Patience, grasshopper." - well, we certainly want to meet her soulmate soon! Or is it Ali/Courtney possibly?

TV Guide: Marlene King Speaks About the Betrayal, Halloween, 3B & Shipper News

TV Guide did a post-finale interview with Marlene King, who spoke about Toby's betrayal, the summer finale, shipper news, Halloween and 3B as a whole!
 
On whether the writers always knew Toby would be involved in the "A" Team

"No. I did know Mona (Janel Parrish) would be, but not with Toby until early on when we decided to not kill him, as in the books. The theme we explore all the time on the show is "what appears to be isn't." So it was really fun to develop a character who really was the moral compass of the show. There were points at the end of Season 1 where we said that Toby is the only character in Rosewood who had never lied, and that was a truth to that point."

 
On whether Toby ever had real feelings for Spencer 

"That's the story we're going to tell [in the next part of the season] and you'll get a better sense of it."

 
On whether he could possibly still have good intentions

"No."

 
On the motivation behind Spoby's sex scene

"It helped to keep the surprise, but also I feel that, for Spencer, it was the right time. Toby had been gone for several weeks and she was the one who wanted to wait. And for her character, not knowing he's on the A Team, it made sense for her to want to consummate the relationship. She thought she might've lost him forever until he showed back up in town."

 
On whether we'll ever see the scene where Caleb was shot

"Maybe. We're still talking about it."

 
On why Emily did not console Paige after the shooting

"Paige knows these girls are four best friends and the show is really about the friendship and their unconditional bond. So, Paige made the sacrifice in that moment. She saw Emily (Shay Mitchell) and Hanna (Ashley Benson) really needed each other, so her doing the body block and getting the police's attention was her way of saying, "I get it, I understand," And Spencer's look in subtext was, "We're so sorry.""

On Nate being Maya's killer and dead

"He's definitely dead and yes he is definitely Maya's killer.

On Ezria

"Even though there wasn't resolution there, it opened up and fuels ourstory. What I thought to be interesting was that the "Ezria" shippers felt like, 'Oh no, Maggie is nice." They were expecting her to be a bi--- like Jackie, and here she shows up seemingly very nice with a secret of her own and asking Aria for help."

"They won't be lost in Season 3B if they don't watch, but I'm certain there are clues and there's texture and there are moments that are fueling storylines going into 3B. We're introducing a character [played by Aerial Miranda] in the webisodes that has a significant role in Season 3B."

On the theme for 3B 

"It's that Mona is back. Now we see Mona has found a way to get in and out of Radley, the old "A" who we all miss will be very much back and present in the girls' lives."

Firstly, he tweeted this about Pretty Dirty Secrets as a whole, tweeting, "I want to thank @imarleneking and everyone else involved for this incredible opportunity. Can't wait for you all to see it #PDS #PLL" - and we can't wait to see it soon! Not sure what's the situation for non US-audience, but we'll have to wait and see! 
 
We're sad we haven't seen Jason in a while on the show, but Kyle makes it sound like we'll be seeing a lot of him on PDS, with him tweeting this, "Yes! That was my favorite to write and it's good!" - can't wait to see him again, and some interaction with ex CeCe!
 
PDS in general
 
Kyle confirmed for us that it was not the creators of PLL which indeed came up with the idea for a webseries, but instead it was ABC Family - nice call, and we're definitely looking forward to it! And we were also curious how long each webisode would be, but Kyle unfortunately couldn't confirm, but we'll see soon enough!
 
Also, it seems that PDS, while it is a separate project to PLL, will still embody the atmosphere of PLL, and maintaining both the storylines and intensity of the show itself, but of course, because there are far less episodes in the webseries, it's not a fair comparison, but we're excited all the same!
 
Characters for PDS
 
When asked whether one of the characters in Pretty Dirty Secrets is on the "A" team, Kyle tweeted, "You never know who will show up for Halloween shopping." - you never know, but will we have some unexpected visitors perhaps showing up in PDS? And when asked how did they choose which characters to include in PDS, Kyle tweeted, "We had ideas for them!" - we also think they chose these characters because of the suspicious nature surrounding them, and also the fact that we unfortunately see less of them on the show than we do of other characters!
 
Also, in response to a fan asking whether Shana will play a significant role on the show, Kyle tweeted, "She'll stuck around." - we're thinking she'll either be a guest-starring or recurring character, but either way, we're intrigued to what will come of her presence in Rosewood! Will she learn some secrets of the town and the characters who come to see at the Halloween store? Most definitely! Speaking of Shana, when asked whether she's good or bad, Kyle merely tweeted this, "It's Rosewood. Is anyone anything but grey?" - hard to tell so far, but hopefully she'll bring a new dynamic, dissimilar to any other character on the show!
 
Sets for PDS
 
We weren't sure ourselves about the extent to which sets are going to be used for the webseries, but Kyle confirmed for us that, "Yes. All will be in the store." - sounds good! And we're bound to see more of the Rosewood Halloween store in 3x13! But we must ask, what does the Halloween store do when it's not Halloween in Rosewood? Sell black hoodies for the "A" team?

Here's a post-finale interview with exec producer Oliver Goldstick, who spoke about the summer finale, the "A" Team (Mona, Toby and who else?), Jenna, and shipper news for 3B as well!
 
On Toby possibly infiltrating the "A" team to help the Liars

"I’m not so sure about that. You’re going to find out some stuff in Season 3B… Don’t forget what those girls did. No one stood up for him when he was put away in juvie hall because of Alison. Those other four girls were passive; no one defended him or did anything. Just remember that."

On Toby being part of the "A" team

"Fans are going to learn more in 3B about Toby’s history and how he felt about being put away by Alison and her posse. The mystery of Toby, his motivation and why he’d do this to the girls is explored. "

On why Toby came back and slept with Spencer

"People punish people for many reasons and on many levels… Just don’t put it past him, OK? He’s Jenna’s stepbrother, too. People really mess with people in Rosewood. [Laughs] "

On whether there are clues to Toby being part of the "A" team across the series

"I think they could, yeah. They could find moments that make them question and really doubt; moments that will make you say, “Oh my gosh, has this person been playing them all along?” — particularly Spencer, obviously."

 On whether Jenna is good

"Maybe this mythology will help: Jenna left town in Episode 11 [of this season] because she was really scared of Nate. He realized that the only person who saw him leaving that backyard was the blind girl, so he thought he had a pass. And when he finds out that Jenna had been able to see, that scares the s–t out of him. If Jenna had stayed in town, Nate may have gone after her… The idea was that he felt exposed. As far as Jenna goes, she had to leave town for her own safety. I’m not saying that’s the end of Jenna and you’ll never see her again, but she’s leaving for a bit."

On whether we'll see Larisa Oleynik in 3B

"You will definitely see her in 3B. She will serve as a true threat to [Aria and Ezra's] relationship."

On whether Ezra can forgive Aria for keeping Malcolm a secret, when and if he finds out

"It’s explosive. It’s yet another huge obstacle for this couple. What we’re trying to tap into is that Aria’s out of her league here. This is something that most teenagers wouldn’t have to deal with — it’s a lot. It doesn’t mean it’s insurmountable, but it definitely is a game-changer."

On whether the Ezra-son reveal comes out quickly in 3B

"No. The longer you hold on to secrets, the worse they get."

On why Emily rushed past Paige in 3x12, when she was also a victim

"I wouldn’t read too much into that. It was a traumatic event… You know who is hurt now [Caleb], and [Hanna was] the person Emily wanted to comfort. Paige is fairly traumatized herself [in Season 3B]. And if you think her parents were strict before… She’s now going to be locked in a fort! [Laughs]"

On who shot Caleb 

"That will be answered, and will come out pretty quickly."

On whether Haleb can be more open about their relationship

"More so, yes. We will address [after the Halloween episode] some of the questions you’re asking about ‘Haleb,’ whether they’re under the radar or above the radar… Because ‘A’s been watching them all along, anyway."

On whether Spoby is still on in 3B

"Oh, yes. And it’s kind of hair-raising because of how much they are letting him in and how intimate Spencer is with him… You know something the girls don’t."

On how Mona comes in and out of Radley so easily

"She’s a crazy wench. [Laughs] The thing about Mona next season, which is so great, is that she’s as smart as Spencer. She just uses her intelligence for very devious purposes. She’s a really bright girl… She’s like a little squirrel; she stores up her acorns, but they’re radioactive acorns that turn into hand grenades… Mona may also be back in Rosewood sooner than you think, [as is revealed in] our Season 3B opener. She’s back to torture our girls in a whole new way."

On whether the writers are comfortable that the audience now know two members of the "A" team

"Yes."

On whether the writers know who this third person on the "A" team could be

"We’re writing to it, but we know who it is...Yes. You know this person, yes."

On a tease for 3B

"I think the enemy being amongst us is a lot scarier than the enemy within. Season 3B is about what happens when it’s standing right before you — in your face and under your roof."

In response to being asked to describe Emily's Halloween costume, Mar tweeted, "barbarella" - we think this in reference to an European film from the 60s, based on the comics! Who could Emily be?

After such a massively positive response to the summer finale of S3, Mar tweeted this, "Such a great response to the mid-season finale. Feeling the pressure to deliver in 3B. I like pressure." - and we sure hope the ante can be maintained for the rest of the season, especially the long-awaited Halloween episode in October!

Also, when asked why Lucy doesn't get any action-oriented scenes, like Troian, Shay and Ashley have had to some extent in the duration of the series, Mar tweeted, "3B" - we sure would like to see Aria being kick-ass, even though she's so small!

And with relation to spoilers, Mar tweeted this, "I would love to answer all of your questions about the finale, but I don't want to spoil the fun of Halloween and 3B. StAy tuned..." - we certainly can't wait to see what 3B delivers to us!

• We spy an Adam Lambert in performance on the ghost train!
• Looks like Haleb is still going strong, making out on the Halloween train! Or is that really Caleb? It's difficult to tell!
• Is Aria "A"'s new target, considering her mouth is taped up and she's screaming for help?
• Who is wearing the creepy Alison-like mask? Another member of the "A" team? Or someone else?
